The Tofino occurrence is located eastern side of Tofino Inlet, due east of Woman Island.

The area is underlain by rocks of the pre-Jurassic Westcoast Complex. The complex is a heterogeneous assemblage of hornblende- plagioclase gneiss, amphibolite, agmatite, basic migmatite, quartz diorite or tonalite and minor metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks of greenschist metamorphic grade. The complex is genetically related to the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Intrusions and is considered to have been derived from Sicker and Vancouver Group rocks.

Locally, a large composite quartz vein is exposed at about 30 metres elevation. In it, narrow bands of greenstone dip 040 degrees to the west-southwest. The overall attitude of the vein may be parallel these bands. The exposed length is 67 metres and is 9 metres wide. Pyrite and lesser chalcopyrite are disseminated throughout and a few specks of molybdenite were observed.

Two pieces of quartz, showing the most sulphides, assayed 6.8 grams per tonne silver, 0.04 per cent copper and nil gold (Minister of Mines Annual Report 1963, page 116). In 1989, sampling returned up to 2.7 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 16220).

In 1987, the area was explored as the Clara claims.
